3 Recipes to Spice Up Your Valentine's Day!

As a lover of dark chocolate and spicy foods, I set out and experimented with three different spicy Ghirardelli chocolate recipes and WOW are they good. I think my soul mate might be sweet and spicy combinations.

I hope everyone has a beautiful and happy Valentine's Day. It might be a Hallmark holiday and I might (still) be single but today is a day to celebrate LOVE and love in every form. Call your parents, grandparents, best friends and tell them you love them because at the end of the day that is all we have. Wave to your neighbors, smile at a stranger, love yourself—spread your love to the ends of the Earth!

Okay that's enough V-day rambling from me. I give you SPICY CHOCOLATE TREATS!!

Spicy Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Brownies:

Fudgy with a kick!!!

Ready for the best part? It's so easy! Ghirardelli Brownie Mix (I used the Dark Chocolate one) and some spices. Bada-BOOM, bada-BING.

Ingredients:

  • Ghirardelli Brownie Mix

  • 1 tbsp Cinnamon

  • 1tbsp Chili Powder

Directions:

  1. Follow instructions on mix

  2. Mix in the cinnamon and chili powder

  3. Bake according to package

  4. (Optional) For an extra kick, sprinkle chili powder on top

  5. Enjoy!

Spicy Strawberry Chocolate Candies:

Creamy, rich and tangy!

Confession. This was the first time I have ever made molds. Not many survived... because I ate them. So here's to the 7 out of 12 that did so that I could take this pic, opps! :)

Ingredients (based on a 12 servings):

  1. 10oz Dark Chocolate Ghirardelli Morsels

  2. Organic Strawberry Jam

  3. Red Pepper Jelly

Directions:

  1. Melt chocolate according to instructions on package

  2. Stir until completely melted

  3. Fill chocolate molds completely

  4. Wait 2 minutes and pour out any of the melted chocolate back into your bowl. This will leave the molds with just enough chocolate coating it.

  5. Make sure the bowl of melted chocolate stays warm to keep melted

  6. While mold sets, mix the jam and jelly together.

  7. Fill the molds 2/3 to 3/4 up with the jam and jelly mixture

  8. With the remaining chocolate, fill the molds completely and scrape off any excess chocolate.

  9. Let molds set in a cool area for 10 - 15 minutes

  10. Un-mold

  11. Enjoy!

Spicy Chocolate Chile Pepper Bark:

Sweet, simple and EXTRA spicy!!

Ahh, chocolate bark... just like eating a candy bar but better! Now I don't pick favorites, but out of these three recipes, this is the spiciest and sweetest and therefore I LOVE IT.

Ingredients:

  1. 10oz Dark Chocolate Ghirardelli Morsels

  2. 1 1/2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

  3. 1 1/2 tbsp cinnamon

  4. 1 tbsp paprika

  5. 1 tbsp chipotle chili powder

  6. 1 cup pistachios (optional)

Directions:

  1. Line a baking pan with wax paper

  2. Melt chocolate according to instructions on package

  3. Mix in the spices and 3/4 cup of pistachios

  4. Pour chocolate onto baking pan. Spread it out evenly

  5. Crush remaining 1/4 cup of pistachios and sprinkle them on top

  6. Chill for 20 minutes in the freezer, or until set

  7. Break into pieces and store in airtight container

  8. Enjoy!

That is all my lovely valentines! I hope you enjoy these recipes as much as I did :)
